Governments all over the world has devoted a great amount of human, financial and material resources to ensure the inheritance, promotion and development of the fine traditional culture on the basis of effective protection. researchers are using virtual reality to recreate historically accurate reconstructions of ancient rock art to help shed light on their past and present significance.The virtual reconstructions place the engravings in the wider context of the landscape to show how the art related to its immediate surroundings thousands of years ago.
 

 The virtual reality of Culture Relic and Historic Site can help young children learn the cultural background and life style of the ancient time. This virtual environment brings the life aspects of the ancient culture to the users through a rich, interactive learning environment. Based on the available 3D modeling technology, virtual reality technology and multimedia technology, paper introduced a 3D reconstruction and exploration system of some world natural & cultural heritage. The applied techniques are 3D modeling technique based on stereo photo-pairs, virtual display technique based on CA VE, explore technique based on virtual animation, and scene interaction control technique based on VRML nodes. It provides a series of new ideas and methods for archaeology research and virtual exploration.
In order to protect ancient Chu-culture, virtual reality technique was used to reconstruct and imitate cultural space and historic activity. According to literal recordation, ancient images and ancient relic, Digital Tiger reconstructed chime bell, bronze utensils, lacquers, characters, finery and architecture by 3d scanner and 3d modeling technique, and we also recovered the fading color painted on culture relic in ancient times. The method to protect and transmit culture heritage is more acceptable and enjoyable than traditional one, which is better to attract audience’s attention, make audiences to obtain experience, increase the extent and depth of culture transmitted.
